European Film Market & Berlinale Film Festival

This year, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the European Film Market (EFM), where I joined my producing partner, John Oetjen, to represent our upcoming film My Culinary Love Story, which we’ll be shooting later this year in the UK. We had a series of exciting meetings with key industry players, including the UK Film Commission, the British Film Institute, and our soon-to-be-announced sales agent. The connections we made during the festival were truly unforgettable, and it was one of the best trips I’ve had in all my years of attending.

It was also a huge privilege to reconnect with fellow Filipino filmmakers and meet with the heads of the Film Development Council of the Philippines. We had some fantastic discussions about Red Jasmine, a project we’re eager to shoot in the Philippines later this year. Although it’s a smaller indie with a tight budget, we’re already casted and crewed up – now we just need that final piece of financing to bring it to life.

All in all, it was an incredible trip. Berlin put on a show with days of snow, making the city feel even more magical under a blanket of white. I always love coming to Berlin and Germany – the people are warm, welcoming, and kind. I can’t wait for the next opportunity to return! #Berlinale #EFM #filmfestival
